Alaska SeaLife Center star

Aleutian Islands star
Alaska is full of extremes. The Aleutian Islands are no different than the rest of the state. Just a portion of the Southwestern Region of Alaska, they hold extremes in location, weather, and history.

Best Burgers in Anchorage star
If you’re looking for a place to grab a fast burger but want to avoid the fast food chains, try Arctic Roadrunner on the Old Seward Highway.

Chicken Alaska star
How in the world does a little town, with a year round population of under 20 people, just off a major highway (by Alaskan terms), get the name of Chicken?

Dutch Harbor, Alaska star
Dutch Harbor; the busiest sea port in the entire United States, is also home to the crab boat fleet of the TV show "Deadliest Catch". Surrounded by spectacular volcanic mountains, Dutch Harbor sits on some of the richest fishing and crabbing grounds in the world.

Hope Alaska At Road's End star
Hope, Alaska, has plenty to offer visitors down at the end of the road with camping, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting and more. Add this historic gold rush town to your travel plans and enjoy scenic views, great outdoor activities and even gold-panning.

Juneau Alaska star
Juneau Alaska is named for Joe Juneau. He and Dick Harris discovered gold in this area in 1880. After one year of being named Harrisburg, it was changed to Juneau when it was realized that it was not to be a fly by night town. Seems the lower 48 already had too many Harrisburg’s!

Matanuska-Susitna River Valley star
The Matanuska-Susitna Valley, known as “the Mat-Su” by locals, is an activity-filled valley in south central Alaska. Only an hour’s drive from Anchorage, the Mat-Su offers everything from towering glaciers and white water rafting to hiking, fishing and flight-seeing trips.

North Pole star
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. Or at least there is a North Pole where Santa is said to live! Travel fourteen miles south of Fairbanks Alaska along the Richardson Highway, and you will pass right through North Pole Alaska.

Pribilof Islands star
To the north of the Aleutian Island chain, about 750 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska and 500 miles east of Siberia, Russia, are the Pribilof Islands. There are hundreds of islands in the state of Alaska, but these have a special draw.

Seward Alaska star
Seward, Alaska, is one of the top tourist destinations on any Alaska vacation “bucket list”, no matter how you get there. The harbor town of Seward on Resurrection Bay in the Gulf of Alaska is only a 4-5-hour drive from Anchorage. It is famous for its scenic marine wildlife and glacier tours.

The Dalton Highway star
The Dalton Highway, also known as “the haul road”, connects Fairbanks, Alaska with Deadhorse, Alaska and the Prudhoe Bay oil fields. This spectacular stretch of highway spans open tundra as well as the treacherous Brooks Range. The Dalton Hwy runs parallel to the Alaska Pipeline much of its length.
